Home Health Aides Needed

Home health aides are some of the most important people in the healthcare industry. These are the people who come in and take care of the aging, disabled, and those recovering from illnesses. Home health aides work in these people’s homes and have become more popular because regular visits from such people are generally less expensive than a stay in a hospital. Additionally, people tend to heal faster or feel better if they are in a familiar place like their home versus an impersonal and oftentimes sterile environment like a hospital.

Home health aides administer drugs and provide care that has been dictated by doctors, nurses, and mental health professionals like psychiatrists and therapists. Thus, they give medication and check a person’s pulse, temperature, and other vital signs. Additionally, some aides help patients exercise and can even give massages and help them with their day to day tasks such as dressing and bathing.

Home health aides are some of the most important people to those who need them. They are not just taking care of a person’s wounds or checking their vital signs, but they are also the shoulder people cry on when things are tough.

Home health aides help a person when they can not help themselves. Thus, they sometimes help a client clean the house or change the sheets on their bed. They are the ones who help when it comes to cooking meals and following the dietary restrictions some patients must face. They are the ones who help patients get into and out of wheelchairs, and they are often the people who take the elderly to doctor’s visits.

HHA Schools and Training

Home health aides do a little bit of everything. When a patient has marked progress or is slipping, they inform supervisors and keep detailed records about the client’s health. These aides are often spoken to by doctors, nurses, social workers, and other people seeking knowledge about a person’s health.

To become a home health aide, a person will have to undergo some training. There are many training and certification programs taught in colleges and in some high schools. In these programs, people are taught everything from how to communicate to anatomy and nutrition. Still, the best training occurs when people work alongside doctors or nurses. Many home health agencies ask potential employees to undergo a series of mental evaluations and many also have background checks to ensure the safety of their clients. This is because so much of the work occurs in a client’s home: The agency has to be sure employees are trustworthy.
